andyh29
Ive seen two cars working in Sheffield for a local private hire company with plates that say gedling on them....how can they do this ?,
PAKS4
Basically A hackney carriage from any town/city can work as a private hire in any other town/ city. I believe it's very easy to become a hackney driver in Gedling resulting in vehicles licensed by Gedling working all over as private hire vehicles. PAKS4
Fast 4 is originally rotherham based, they have now moved into Sheffield, none of their vehicles covering sheffield are licensed by Sheffield city council, they are using hackney carriages (legally) from Wakefield, rossindale, Gedling and rotherham, mostly older vehicles not tested to the same standards as Sheffield licensed vehicles. Hillpig
do testing standards vary?
Waseem3007
That thread doesnt make it clear if this is acceptible, what other firms allow this. So am i right in thinking a person could pass their hackney test licence in gedling yet work for a sheffield firm legitally. Bizarre lol
PAKS4
It is legal, but the Sheffield firms ( city, mercury, excel, express )won't allow it as the drivers havnt passed a Sheffield knowledge test, havnt been crb checked by Sheffield city council.
