Songs for the Record - a book club, for albums

Event details

Songs for the record - a book club, for albums.

Love music? This group wants to build a fun, informal and welcoming space where people can talk (and maybe learn a little bit too) about music they love and remember. A chance to meet people with similar interests and maybe discover some new bands too.

We're George and Pete, two old school mates who back in the early 90's grew a friendship through a mutual love of music and going to gigs that is still going 30 years later.

Each monthly gathering shall be based around chatting about one classic album.

We'll share some back ground and context on each album - a few fun facts and then see where the conversation takes us likely guided by a few themes from the records.

We want to talk about the songs, the memories, the people, the time and culture and most importantly - how the music made us.

Green Day - Dookie

We're heading back to the west coast to discuss one everyone remembers...

We'll chat through -
What do you remember about it?
What is your favourite track on the album and why?
Did you see them tour the album live back in the 90s?
Did you see them play tracks from the album this year?
Do you have any memorabilia or tales to tell?
We'll also broaden the conversation to wider and more present music chat.
Join us as we play the album in full from 6:30pm in a private area of the pub and the conversation (and event) will start proper at 7:30pm.
Let's reminisce and have a good old informal chat about it all.
