It's to do with the convenience of the travelling. I'm not very familiar with that area of Sheffield but if you are interested in providing accommodation, contact the schools/colleges/universities that are easy to get to from your house - there's a very good chance they'll be looking for people to provide accommodation.

In the S8 area you should get in touch with the Sheffield College. They bring Japanese students over and need hosts families for a year. I've forgotten the name of the lady who organises it - something like 'Mim' but she's leaving soon anyway. Nevertheless, you might be in time for the next intake in September
