  1. Yes, never thought of that. Perhaps we should send the bill to the paedophiles and their protectors then, rather than the British public having to foot it.
  2. Me too, when buses were 2p for kids, ran regularly, and we could rely on them turning up.
  3. The NHS is private now, so what's the difference?
  4. Iceland's frozen green beans are exquisite.
  5. I bought them regularly from Lidl last year and they were out of this world. I've bought them this year from Lidl and thought they were very poor taste wise.
  6. Many school buses offer a unique route not served by single bus journeys.
  7. Is this something that a GP can do a referral for?
  8. But the increasing number of pupils relying on school buses home often can't access after school clubs.
  9. I am very saddened to learn of your experience. I agree that EVERYONE has a collective duty to protect children and other vulnerable members of society. Your post prompts the question though, if you report it the police, if you report it social services and it falls on deaf ears, where should you turn next?
  10. Because they are growing in to adults, have hormones raging, and this in itself is tiring. Couple that with the tremendous pressures that teachers and pupils are under to get prescriptive courses done in large class sizes in schools, and they are ready for a break. 30 minutes gives pupils barely enough time to queue and eat their lunch. Many of them rely on school buses to and from school, so lunch time is the only time they have to see a teacher if they don't understand the homework set, or go and see their head of year if they are being bullied, or get a book out from the school library, etc, and as others have said, they should be encouraged to go out and get some fresh air, have a game of footy or whatever during that time. My child has benefitted greatly from lunchtime clubs and revision sessions. I wish that for other children.
  11. The new little one opposite the Leeds Chippy is very nice. Always lovely white fresh fish cooked while you wait and very nice and clean and nice chips. You can also eat inside. A european couple run it. The one opposite Peasholm Park is also usually very good but be prepared to stand in very long queues for it!
  12. It doesn't leave time for any lunchtime clubs/revision sessions does it? Children need a decent lunchtime break if they are at school all day.
  13. Are they good enough reasons why companies should not pay employees a living wage?
  14. It sounds interesting, Nick. Now, I know a little bit more, I think the lack of response might have something to do with the date of your event. A lot of teachers might be away during the summer break, which will cut down your response. Hosting the event on a Saturday might cut down responses too. I don't know how you feel about this, or if it's a possibility, but if you were to approach schools, and teachers with responsibility for the delivery of art in particular, and offer to go in to schools and deliver an introduction to the art of origami in the classroom, I think you might get a positive response.
  15. Hardly, in my opinion. O'Hagan seems to be accusing the British public of being co-conspirators in the BBC's murky activities. I don't think so. It was obviously rife, with paedophiles getting their paedophile friends on board the BBC gravy train which furnished them with a haven for their abuse. And I, as an innocent child, used to love watching Larry the Lamb.
  16. Does seem strange. Is the trimmer working when the cord is rolled up and you're testing it but not when it's stretched when you're using it? Could it be a break in the trimmer cord? Check your trimmer for any possible visible cord damage. Sometimes when cords are not stretched you can get a contact and when they are stretched you don't.
  17. Contact the Law Society before the girl is exposed to anything further in relation to this.
  18. How do you know the rumour is not true?
  19. Are people really making light of the possibility that there may have been an attempted abduction of a child? I would rather be informed of the possibility, even it turns out to be a hoax, than to be kept in the dark.
  20. That was obviously the City Cars driver's policy this afternoon, when I was almost rammed, approaching from Netherthorpe Road.
  21. Oh, I'm sorry to hear this. Thank you for letting us know. Your Grandad was a real character and will be sadly missed.
  22. He must be able to put it away. The local pub has even named their carvery after him.
  23. Except if it was because they were gay, or a woman, or disabled.
