  1. Do you really think South Yorkshire and Northampton are the only two areas with venues doing this? That question to the fragrant Miss Potion btw
  2. They will be subject to the same GDPR requirements as Tank and the venue you walked past, and are sharing details of banned people.
  3. That was one of the first Google hits I saw. Schemes like this will be happening all over the country, either county wide like in Northampton, or on an ad hoc basis like in Sheffield. Irene has a choice not to submit documents to these scanners and to walk away.
  4. I literally told you about one other venue that is doing it, there are likely others. Source: a relative who went a few weeks ago.
  5. I literally posted a link that tells you why, the Northampton scheme is no different to the rationale why it happens here.
  6. So they havent actually "told you" anything then?
  7. Attitudes to and enforcement of alcohol retailing were very different 60 years ago, of course, and there was very little, if any, social responsibility. Modern Life Is Rubbish, or something.
  8. You arent an 18 year old slip of a girl though are you
  9. Ive already explained it. Venues admitting loads of youngster have to make every effort to ensure they retain their license and some will ID everyone, what ID do you expect 18-21 year old students to have? Many likely wont be driving and therefore that leaves passports only, many venues dont like the free ID Cards you can apply for as they can be easily faked. The alternative is they dont get in the venue whilst all their mates do.
  10. The concept as to why its in use is exactly the same.
  11. I suspect they are allowed to if they have approval from the ICO. Irene can always give Licensing a ring if she has concerns. As said, its a common enough thing now. https://www.college.police.uk/support-forces/practices/id-scan-identifying-people-banned-licensed-premises Boils down to what do you have to hide really doesnt it. "The information of each ID is stored on a secure database in line with GDPR requirements, with the premises themselves being the data controller." Irene wont be going to Tank either then.
  12. I dunno, that has merit. Students are less likely to have a driving license, and venues have Challenge 21/25 responsibilities. Most students are under 21. Therefore they need some ID and a passport is going to be the thing many of them will have. They wont want to be denied access whilst all their mates with passports get in. Someone mine and your age certainly wont bother. Venue does look to be skewed to the younger demographic - "Late Bar in the City Centre playing the best in RnB, Hip Hop, Commercial, Afro Beats and Funky House". It may be their policy to ID absolutely everyone. In which case you should have asked to have seen a copy of their ICO accreditation.
  13. See above. They likely arent. Who told you they are retaining copies?
  14. How do you know they are keeping copies of it? Did they tell you? Some venues like Tank have ID scanners but this is merely to verify its real. Scanning of IDs is more common than you think, in most cases its something they will have to do either from a police or licensing perspective (or both).
  15. Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue also confirmed it was a diesel vehicle, of course the conspiracy theorists are out in force over this one.
  16. Maybe time to swallow your pride then. As said though, £80 to come out and do it isnt unreasonable when you account for everything.
  17. Do you not have family to help with such matters? So essentially you paid £80 for someone to turn the stop c0ck off.
  18. Well yes. If your energy company went bust and you held a balance of £500 with them, would you be happy if it vanished into the ether? Personally everyone should be on monthly variable DD and then the energy companies wont have to hold any money at all.
