  1. Thank you all for your kindness, I have been to Sheffield last May, very nice city in a lovely country, I see and read in the news the situation in the UK, I hope everything will settle soon with no damages or serious consequences.
  2. Hi all, I would like to thank you all for your support, I was very keen to study and live in your great city, but unfortunately couldn't get the final approval from my employer. Thank you again for your help and kindness and wish you all the best.
  3. I already in touch with the city council, they sent me the form to apply for the primary school, I think because her birth day is 19/Dec/13, she will be able to join the primary school, I hope so.
  4. Thank you Annie Bynnol, very usefull information, indeed, secondary school will be more difficult, therefore, I would like my daughter to join the primary school first.
  5. Dear Peak4, thank you very much for your reply, and the information you provided, through this forum, I'm sure now that the city is very friendly and hospitable, I've got a very fruitful information and a great help from the kind and valued members, thank you all. I will take your advice regaeding the dispute and other advices seriously. The rent is very expensive as you mentioned, and I'm thinking to allocate GBP 1000-1200, I will be paid around GBP2100, I've heard that GBP 900-1000 shall be enough for living cost, I'm not sure, I will also be recieving around GBP350 from renting my house in Baghdad. The links are very useful, it seems I will look for 2 beds flat or semi-detached house, it will also depend on the availability when I will move next September/October. Thank you!
  6. Thank you Draggletail, seems interesting, I already have Netheredge as one potential area, will consider Greystones as well. Thanks!
  7. Thank you Annie Bynnol for your reply, totally agree the schools should be the priority, I have to choose three primary school, then based on the availablity the city counil will choose one. I have chosen 1. St. Mary's CE Academy; 2. Westways Primary School; 3. Nether Edge Primary School; I also find St. Marie's RC IJ which is in Fulwood Road PostcodeS10 3DQ, I don't know what area is that, and if it is a good area. I will reach the university for the registered landlords that only accept post graduate students with families, it will be helpful. Crookes mentioned many times, I will make it my first choice. Thank you again!
  8. Thank you, in terms of cost of houses, bills .. etc, will be the same as for flats? I also would like to check if Westways Primary School which is in Mona Avenue belongs to Crookes area or not?
  9. I have collected those areas from the recommendations that mentioned many times in the replies above, Crookes, Walkley, Nether Edge, Broomhill, Broomhall, Hillsborough, I'm checking on Rightmove app the availability and prices of flats/detached houses, as I have to choose the school that I want my kids to join, and fill some forms and send back to city council. my concerns that I might not be able to find flat/house near the school when it's time to move to the city. any suggestions please? I'm also wondering what is advantages/disadvantages of flats vs detached houses. Thank you!
  10. Thank you dear for your congrats, I'm incredibly grateful for all this help from you and the other valued members of this forum, the way you all treat me made me so pleased and excited to move to the city after being worry and nervious a little bit. In choosing the area to live in, the paramount importance is to be ideal for my family, easy to my wife to reach her needs, shopping, does some activities in contact with other people...etc, and for my children to get better schools and to have some fun as well, to be close to the university will be good, but not that necessary as I won't be going to the university everyday. I also prefer not too much quite place, see some people in around will be very nice. I'm doing some searches in Rightmove app, I can find a handful options for my budget, but I have been informed by my friend who lives in Bournemouth that this could be changed when the university classes start and students back to universities, then it will be difficult to get housing. Do you think this will be the case in Sheffield as well? Thank you again, your reply is really appreciated.
  11. Thank you BigAl1, I understand it is very normal in big cities to have some places to avoid, you all have helped me in choosing the best area to live in, thank you. Do you have more areas to suggest in addition to areas mentioned in the replies above? Appreciated.
  12. Dear Slighty Batty, Thank you very much for the congrats and the wishes, really appreciated. I'm in contact with the city council over the email, I would like my 11y daughter to join the primary school, she doesn't speak English, and I think it will be better for her to have one more year at the primary school. Thank you!
  13. Thank you a lot for the recommendation, yes, I see those areas mentioned many time, I'm working on them. Appreciated.
