Tried the Florentine but they're closed to prepare for the evening. Anyone know any others? Wanting a good standard of food similar to Florentine.

Im yet to make my mind up about the whole ched thing but im paying less and less attention to these people now- why make a big thing of it- just rind up the club and say your not a patron anymore, why make a big thing of it unless its for the publicity.

Spa was closed over the weekend with no sign of life so they'd bet get a move on to make it into a morrisons.

The Corner Pin was the last of the Steelmakers pubs in Sheffield and was one of my favourite places to visit for a real good pint!

I woudn't say that, Wentworth house is still going and thats right next to Rixstons, plus there are plenty in stocksbridge that do pretty good business from the mill there.

Been closed for the past week at least from what i have seen. Had a takeaway from it a few weeks ago- certainly nothing special about it and the 'world famous' crispy duck was distinctly average.

Yeah, we know our neighbours either side of our house and up our side of the street- they are terraced houses though so you do live closer that normal houses.

We have a drink in the summer and a good chat- its nice.

Not exactly overjoyed with the new series. I think Peter Capaldi will make a good Doctor, its just a shame that the stories so far are quite poor.

Agreed, He is slowly beginning to win me over but the writing so far this series has been garbage- "spiders on the moon", and "honey i shrunk the darlek" just don't cut it for me.

I would think that the reason they don't advertise other prices is because it is virtually impossible to do.

 

As far as I know all prices are done on distance in the form of 'stages' and change depending on where you get on and get off. They could easily do a price from Sheffield to Conisborough (in this case) but what about for someone who gets on part way through that journey. The list of combinations would be too complicated.

 

All they can realistically do is show the prices as a list of distance but that wouldn't be entirely accurate

Agreed but a 'fare calcuator' on the website would be possible.

Its a shame there's not a decent pub in Crosspool. Something like the hallamshire or closed shop at commonside. Would be nice to have a few pints and a curry close to home. Don't rate the sportsman or tavern for a drink.

Its not the greatest pub in the world but the sportman is always a decent place to go for a pint or two, good lagers on and rotating real ales.

Half of the shops on Ecclesall Road are just hobbies of women with rich husbands. They don't make any money, many of them lose a fair bit.

I wonder if you can include Sainsburys in that?

Really good. Have been for numerous meals in there and never really had a bad one.

Most sensible post on here, totally agree- SOMEONE will pick him up and take the risk, if it's united remains to be seen but there is not a cat in hells chance that man is in a powerful negotiating position, certainly not to 18k a week.

We went for Sunday dinner last weekend and thought it was lovely, the size of the yorkshire puddings have to be seen to be believed and the meat was lovely, could maybe have done with an extra slice of meat but that was my only gripe with it- we wanted extra gravely for the table and it was brought out free of charge.

They had a good drinks selection on and everything run pretty smoothly.

Will 100% be going again- the terrace outside looks perfect for the summer!

Well we all realise that as one of the council's designated excuse makers, you like planner1 will make every excuse in the book to try to put some gloss on this.

 

The fact remains, and everyone including you knows it, that Sheffield would get valuable TV and media exposure if the TDF finished in the city outside the town hall. But because of the petty minded car hating attitude that is pedaled around here the city cannot cope and therefore the media will broadcast the tour finishing in a wasteland of graffiti scrawled buildings, and call it Sheffield.

That is how Sheffield is going to be portrayed to the world. It is how Sheffield is already viewed by the world, and is a reason why Sheffield lags behind when the rest of the country is experiencing growth. We can't even find anyone to develop the city centre.

If you hate the city so much may i suggest that you move. The rubbish that you are writing certainly isn't my view nor any of my friends so don't suggest that you speak for all of the residents of sheffield.

You say sheffield is viewed like that by the rest of the world and that sheffield isn't experiencing ANY growth- do you have any proof of that or is that just your hate fuelled opinion based on the fact that the bike race isn't allowed to finish in the city centre (quite where you would want them to finish is beyond me- Fargate? The moor? How about going round the pitch at Bramall lane and the first one over the goal line wins?).

Im sure much cleverer people than you and I would have thought long and hard to try to get the tour stage finishing in the city centre but the simple fact is they couldn't make it work- that may be because of the layout of the city centre OR it may be because of the conditions the tour organisers placed on the yorkshire stages decision committee- unless you have access to those documents we will never know.

The simple fact is that the decision HAS been made and no amount of whinging and moaning is going to change that so why not change the habit of a lifetime and get behind something that is undoubtably GOOD for the city and will raise the profile of Sheffield all over the world.

They are lovely, highly recommended by me.

There are some at meadowhall outside near sports direct and i also think there are some behind the fire station on Rivelin Valley Road.
