Madge was my next door neighbour for about 30 years and her husband was Irish, they spent a lot of time at St Pats bur as far as I know they never lived across from the drive in Hillards, daughters were Pat, Anita and Michelle

Hi Clive I've lived down the road from Lane top since 1955 and as far as I can remember the tram terminated at Firth Park, the bus terminated just down the hill between the cinema and Hillards which was built in the 1960s and opened by the then Miss World Ann Sidney:D When I was a child the place where Hillards was built was a field and we used to climb the embankment and walk along the top in our way to the Capitol which, apparently, was the former name of the Essoldo but that was before my time

:hihi: Quite true, there are no reasons that are acceptable to use a mobile while driving and wearing a seatbelt is compulsory for the simple reason that in 9 times out of ten they save lives. OH and I were in a crash in which the fire brigade were expecting to find us seriously injured or dead. Wearing a seat belt meant we both walked away with the most serious injury was a very small cut on OHs head and we both had whiplash. The car was L- shaped and wheel of juggernaut ripped drivers side to pieces
