  1. No it wasn't - she came to throne in 52 but coronation was in 1953
  2. They are very similar to cars but then so are dinky toys:hihi::hihi:
  3. There's a really nice Indian Restaurant at the Ecclesfield end of Chapeltown hill
  4. No you were quite right I did mean that I'd rather listen to your neighbour than X factor:D:D
  5. Think I'd rather listen to your neighbour:hihi::hihi:
  6. South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive and it's stood empty for few years now, why the sudden interest? If nobody has invested by now I don't think they are going to, shame but Sheffield City Centre needs dragging kicking and screaming into the 21st century in places and that and castle market are definitely in need of major over-haul but let's hope they can find a way to do this without demolishing them
  7. Don't know anything about Foxhill garage but I do know Ian Kelly, Halifax road. We always use him, he is top class. Tel 0114 285 2480 or 07976265034. He will happily collect your car from home or work, do job and then bring it back:D
  8. A good ploy is to answer the phone with something like Battersea Dogs Home, that'll confuse 'em but be careful because I once did that thinking it was my mate and it was actually a solicitor I had engaged when I had carpal tunnel syndrome
  9. They used to have May Queen parade on Whit Sunday in Ecclesfield well into the 70's because I can remember the play group from the Gatty Hall being involved in it when my niece went there and this would have been between 1977 and 1979 as she was born in 1974 and started playgroup when she was 3. We used to get our Whitsun clothes from Wilson Tupholmes or Banners. Highlight of Whitsun was the Star Walk on Whit Tuesday, hundreds used to turn out to watch. Both events now sadly defunct:roll:
  10. I saw some cardboard flat pack cake boxes couple of days ago in Wilkinsons in town, they were near back of ground floor on a small rack or maybe B & Ms or the craft shop at meadowhall retail park
  11. Sorry Tasha but it is all confusing. Put my OH's details into that website and he will not be able to claim free travel until 6 November 2012 but his 61st birthday is 21 July 2012, may be different for those born in 1950 because they changed goalpost for women who were born on or after 1/1/1951
  12. Thanks I'm glad somebody agrees. I have rung Traveline in Rotherham and given mine and OH's dates of birth and they advised that I can get mine with proof of ID and pension when I'm 61 and OH can get his later same year when he is. I must apologise because if I am reading website correctly this does apply to men and women. It's very confusing but you definitely do have to have proof help: My OH according to website can have free travel from 6 November 2012 but he is 61 on 21 July 2012 so it is not on your birthday. However it may be different for those born in 1950 because they only changed goalposts for women born on or after 1/1/1951
  13. That's not what he said, he meant it had to be partner or spouse unless you know somebody born on that date.
  14. I still don't understand how he got it then if he had no proof?
  15. So I do need a letter then as my OH is 3 months younger than me. Did your OH qualify because you have reached pension age? If this is the case when I reach 61 in April 2012 will OH be able to get his then or will he have to wait until he is 61 in July next year?
  16. How did he do that then? I went down just after my 60th birthday and was told I needed to bring proof down and that I needed to be of pension age. On the website it says I should get a letter about six months before I'm 61 to advise me about my state pension
  17. That's not correct either I have rung traveline - see my previous posts 3, 6 and 11 and that should be 1st January 1951 ie - they need to be born on or before 31st December 1950
  18. I will try to keep you on your toes, what's happened to MOS by the way?
  19. I have just rung Traveline and I apologise I was given incorrect information. You are quite right, My OH was born in July 1951 and can get free travel from Nov 2012
  20. It's graduated up to 1955 - I have checked on the website and maybe I was wrong about the book but I have been to the bus station when I turned 60 and you need proof that you are of pensionable age and as men don't achieve that until 65 then it stands to reason they can't get their passes until then
