  1. The though of going into a care home today, with all the abuse that you hear in the media is frightening, especially if you have no family to keep an eye on you. I think assisted suicide should be made legal, I know a lot of people are going to say that it could be abused, but I wonder how many countries in Europe allow euthanasia? I would have thought government would have legalised assisted suicide, after all they are trying to save money.
  2. Does any one know if the Walking Dead, series 6 will be repeated on Spike.
  3. I always use to enjoy watching Homes Under The Hammer, until Dion Dublin presented the programme. To me he does not fit in. I still watch the other two presenters and only half watch it when he is on. I did not know he use to be a footballer, but then I don't watch football unless it is the world cup.
  4. I have read your post, and I thoroughly agree with what you said.
  5. I was in the Poundland shop in Newcastle and they had tinned crab and pink salmon on theirs shelves, however I do not know what the quality is like.
  6. I definitely think it would go towards solving the problem of funding the National Health, instead of going towards rebates for other countries. I agree on the failed EU.
  7. There is a B&Q closing in Newcastle but I was told that they will not make staff redundant, there will be an offer of a transfer if the staff want it. I use to love going into the B&Q at Hillsborough if I missed my buss.
  8. Thank you Norrie for the information I do remember Horne's going to Pinstone Street, you have jogged my memory. I also remember someone called Stewart who worked at Horne's he was very good at oil painting and a very pleasant person, but then as you said all of the staff were. Although I only used the café for a few years I did get to know a lot of the staff, some of them use to use the café when it was there lunch break.
  9. Do you know what year Horne's stop trading. I use to know some of the staff when I use to go for my lunch. There was a lovely lady who worked there, I think her name was Ruby. She had lovely long red her and looked like a model. Awful how they were treated when they were made redundant.
  10. Oh dear, I dread to think what would happened to the country if Corbyn did win the next general election. Love the bit about the free bar, it could be the makings of a brilliant politican.
  11. I just thought with The Furniture Ombudsman would send the report to SCS and then deal with any correspondence, but you are right about getting a furniture repairer for a report and I think they may be cheaper than the Ombudsman. However I think if SCS had been a member of the furniture ombudsman's organisation I am sure they said the charge is not as much as I was quoted.
  12. A lot of these immigrants want to get to this country because England has a free bank and of course they are right when you look at the benefits they can claim. I dread to think what the country will be like if we are still in the EU when Turkey is allowed to join. Your right about Germany being the superpower, that is what Hitler wanted, but can you imaging what he would think of Modern Day Germany?
  13. Birth control, but other countries would need to do there bit and somehow I cannot see that happening.
  14. I remember going in Horne's on Angel Street for my lunch in their cafe, can't remember what the cafe was called. I use to go in because there was this man I thought was really good looking. One day someone who I worked with came with me for lunch and she knew him. She told me he was a homosexual. This was in the 70's.
  15. I certainly will never buy anything from them again not after the experience I have had.
  16. I have though about going to CAB, but put it off. Now after reading every ones posts I am going to see if I can speak to an advisor at the CAB. So thank you everyone for your support. ---------- Post added 03-02-2016 at 20:21 ---------- tzijlstra is right it is time government looked at these companies for miss -selling extended warranties. This warranty was more suited for a family not a single woman. It did not cover the electrical recliner chair which is why I took the warranty out in the first place, but the sales man was not being honest when he sold me the warranty.
  17. I bought a sofa and 2 chairs from SCS just over 2 years ago and already it is falling to pieces. I also took out a certificate of insurance but when I tried to put in a claim I was told it was due to wear and tear. Living on my own I was amazed when they said the insurance does not cover my claim. The man who was sent to look at my furniture was definitely on the side of the insurance company. The extended warranty is worth nothing, when I purchased my furniture from SCS at Gateshead Metro Centre the sales man said it covers everything. Your do not get to see the small writing on your certificate until your furniture is delivered. I will put this down to a costly experience.
  18. I use to park at Meadowhall in the car park near Markes & Spencers at least once a week, then catch the train to Leeds for the day, never had any problems. However this is over 2 years ago not sure if things have changed.
  19. I grew up with Terry Wogan, so sorry to hear he has died. RIP Terry.
  20. I wonder if our European partners are worried in case Britain does leave the EU and other countries also decide to leave. What tactics would be used towards this country to try and discourage other countries from trying to leave? I do not trust these EU ministers. However I certainly can't see Romania or Bulgaria wanting to leave the EU in a hurry. My vote in the referendum will be to leave.
  21. My cousin believes her late father was sent to Belsen Concentration Camp. He was in the The Durham Light Infantry during the second world war. They found an old note book after he died that was used as a diary. In his diary he would describe the villages they were going through in the north of Germany and how nice some of them looked. One of the last things he wrote was that they were told to go to a village, the name Belson was not used and that they had to take powdered milk with them and various other supplies. He also wrote that is was a hush hush job and they had been ordered not to talk about it. In his diary he said it was something that would live with him for the rest of his life after they entered this village. After that he stopped writing in his diary and he never talked about it. My cousin said that in later years he would never set foot in Germany again even if he was given a free holiday. So we can only guess that he was taking supplies to Belsen.
  22. I think this garment is absolutely loathsome and it should be banned in this country. We have not got a government who has the guts to do it. Your not allowed to go in public buildings wearing a crash helmet so these women who wear the burka should be treated the same way.
  23. She was quoted £45 for over the phone and the price is the same if you go into the office. The facebook page is free. Perhaps this service has become popular and they now have to charge as they are non funded.
  24. I think you will find they charge £45 for help with filling in the form and my friend said you have to pay up front before they will help you.
