  1. why do you think they want to come to this country then? Could it be the British weather. All those countries they pass through and all they want is to get to the UK. ---------- Post added 05-09-2014 at 20:55 ---------- I do not feel the French are to blame for this problem. They have been asking Government to do something about the benefit system for quite a while, but it seems to be falling of death ears.
  2. Yes I think you are right. They are economic migrants. I wonder how may are sent home if they do make it to this country.
  3. They think England has a free bank. I feel sorry for the French having to put up with them. They have asked the British government to put their house in order and stop giving them benefits.
  4. No the ethnic minority have a right to vote. Just curious about his constituency.
  5. Like you I find Galloway repulsive. I would love to see him removed from parliament. How can he be removed from parliament if he has a safe seat? Who are the people who have voted for him, is it the ethnic minority? However I must be honest I do not understand politics to well.
  6. George Galloway should have kept his mouth shut. Is he still being interviewed by the police? Mind you I suppose at the moment the police will not get much out of him with his swollen jaw, lets hope it stays like that for a while. He should be charged for what he said. VOTE UKIP
  7. I moved to Newcastle about 9 months ago. I lived at Grenoside for 19 years and I do miss the area. I think Sheffield is a very green city and I did not realise this until I moved. There is a lot of fine people who live in Sheffield. However I had to live in my late mum's house on the Parson Cross estate after she died for a year. I think it was one of the worst parts of Parson Cross, the antisocial behaviour was terrible. There was a programme on television about policing Sheffield and it showed you Parson Cross and the antisocial behaviour that the police had to deal with. I certainly do not miss that area where I lived. In the programme the commentator said Parson Cross is a predominately white area, I'm not to sure about that when I last looked around the area.
  8. I think she had a daughter, who is a few years younger than Ben.
  9. I certainly agree with that one. We have democracy every five years or less.
  10. My 80 year old mother went into Hadfield 4 for bedrest 3 years ago. She had 2 falls on that ward which killed her. I had to spend a full day at the coroner's office. The consultant, matron, sister and nurses who were on duty also had to attend the coroner's court. I still say to this day that there was something very wrong with one of the nurses who was on duty when my mum had these falls, and it will haunt me for the rest of my life.
  11. I wonder how many of these pensioners were in the second world war. They certainly were not in a privileged position then. If it was not for some of these pensioner students probably would not be here today.
  12. I have just moved from Sheffield to Newcastle. I feel they have got the concession passes right here. Pensioners are allowed to use their passes in line with the rest of the country after 9.30 am in the week and all day at weekends. However if they have an early morning hospital appointment and they show the letter to the bus driver they can travel in the week before 9.30 without having to pay. Disabled concession passes are the same as pensioners if they are not working. If they do have a job they have to apply to the council for a pass to let them travel before 9.30 am. I think the council have got it right here.
  13. I second that. Just moved to Newcastle upon Tyne. I have not found a decent fish and chip shop here. How I miss the Riverside fish and chips. The chips, fish and fish cakes were lovely. Also the price was really good. I have not found any fish and chip shop here as cheap as the Riverside or as nice. I don't think I will.
  14. What is that old saying, There will always be an England. God help us all the way things are going.
  15. Does anyone remember Mr Thorpe the history teacher. I thought he was lovely looking. I also remember Mr Flemming. I use to be terrified of him. I don't think he was fit to be a teacher.
  16. Do you know if Stuart Casson was related to Henry Casson. Henry Casson died in an accident at Brown Bayleys. I think it happened in 1974.
  17. You could get people to write to their member of parliament.
  18. Does any one remember Violet's tea stall in Castle Market. I thought violet was a lovely women. She use to give me discount when I use to buy sandwiches to take out. That was in the 60's. I wonder what happened to her? Does any one know if there are any photos of castle market in the 60's.
  19. I do not understand how David Cameron voted himself in power for five years. Is this legal in politics. I am not really up on this sort of thing.
  20. thank you lakerman for that information. I often wondered what happened to him. What an awful accident. He must have only been in his 20s. Once more thank you for letting me know what happened to him.
  21. I do not know what he did at Brown Bayleys. I was told the he was hit by a piece of metal on the head. I am sure it was at Brown Bayleys.
  22. does anyone know Henry Casson who use to work at Brown Bayleys. I was told that he died in some sort of accident when he was working there. Use to be friends with him. I am just trying to find out if there is any truth in this. I was told it happened in the 70's.
