  1. This post belongs on Syrup’s Joke Thread.
  2. I suspected it will go into the millions. It will definitely help the ones who were left disabled. I suspect they are the ones who will get the most money depending on how much care their child needs. Either way all the families deserve to be compensated.
  3. The NHS spends a lot of money on negligence claims so why shouldn’t the parents sue? The NHS didn’t kill Letbys victims as you say but the hospital didn’t do anything to stop it when doctors reported Letby. I believe that some of the babies that survived after Letby tried to kill them have been left disabled, if they are compensated then the money can go towards their care.
  4. Now Letby has been found guilty I suspect her victims will now be planning to sue the hospital, and so they should. Letbys pension scheme and the sale of her house will be peanuts compared to what the hospital will have to pay them.
  5. That’s good only £15 per month. I also built up some credit over the winter months. I’m paying £60 per month at the moment. With the slight reduction in gas and electricity this year I’m not sure we will be much better off. Last year government gave all households £150 council tax rebate and the £400 energy support grant. This year I don’t think we are going to get it, so no I’m not going to get excited.
  6. Letby owned her own home, as Cressida says she’s been rehoused and no need to worry about paying a mortgage. Letby lived alone in a semi-detached home in the cathedral city of Chester in north-west England, on a quiet street of neat lawns and privet hedges. Her neighbours were either retired or couples with children. They would rarely see the young, blond woman who had moved into the house in March 2016 – she worked nights at first, then soon moved to day shifts, when she would leave with her Morrisons bag for life before dawn and rarely return until late.
  7. There was something on the news that government was going to change the law to make it compulsory for people to attend court when they are being sentenced, and so they should.
  8. Reading some of the posts on hear reminds me of Nazi Germany and the role of women. Hitler believed the role of woman was domestic and their job was to stay at home. Thank god he didn’t win the war. Well done to the Lionesses, you played a good clean game. Hold your head up high ladies and be proud of what you have achieved.
  9. The Shawshank Redemption was very good and some good acting in the film.
  10. The energy price cap is expected to fall slightly in October. We should get to know next week when Ofgem announces Octobers price cap. I suppose every little bit helps if it’s correct.
  11. She might be getting fed up of the police dragging her away in different European countries, not before time to. I do wish the Messiah would take her protests to China and Russia.
  12. The Government has ordered an inquiry after Letby was found guilty. It will be interesting to hear why senior management ignored the concerns of the people who raised them about Letby. I hope the inquiry isn’t held behind closed doors and senior managers who did nothing to stop the nurse are forced to do the walk of shame when they attend the inquiry, with the media stood outside with cameras so we can all see what they look like.
  13. It’s ages since I’ve had a pancake. I use to like them with corned beef on top of the pancake and gravy.
  14. I’m not a fan of Kate Garraway or Alison Hammond so I try to avoid programmes when they are in it.
  15. The Sixth Commandment It’s a true story, all 4 episodes are on iplayer. Some good acting from Timothy Spall who is in the series.
  16. The Lord Of The Rings films has some brilliant special effects.
  17. I was playing this Roy Orbison song the other day on YouTube. Never listened to all of the words tho. It is a bit on the dark side.
  18. It’s been on the news that Wilko is going into administration. The cost of living is one reason and more competition.
  19. Delilah by Tom Jones, singing about his cheating partner. The song has been banned from Welsh rugby matches. My, my, my, Delilah Why, why, why, Delilah So before they come to break down the door Forgive me Delilah, I just couldn't take anymore She stood there laughing I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more.
  20. I never thought I would agree with Tony Blair, this is what he says about climate change. He believes the British public should be spared the net zero burden. Britain should not obsess about cutting its carbon emissions, Sir Tony Blair said yesterday. In a break with Labour policy, the former prime minister suggested it was futile to make big sacrifices to drive down the UK's emissions when they are dwarfed by those from countries such as China. He said even if the UK did a 'huge amount' it was 'not really going to impact climate change'.
  21. I’m trying to remember where the chapel is in NGH. Was it on one of the Vickers Corridors? I know it was somewhere in the Victorian part of the hospital. I’m not religious but it was peaceful just to sit there and to be alone with your thoughts.
  22. I hope Andrew Malkinson receives a decent compensation payout, he deserves it. I remember watching a programme about Stefan Kiszko who was found guilty of murdering an 11 year old girl. After serving many years in prison where he was subjected to numerous attacks by other prisoners, he was cleared of the girls murder after DNA tests were carried out on her clothes, which proved he could not have murdered her. Stefan was released from prison by the Court of Appeal in February 1992. He received compensation but only lived a year after his release. It was awful how the police forced a confession from him. He didn’t have a solicitor present when he was being interviewed. Fourteen years after Kiszko's release, police finally arrested a man for the girls murder, he is currently in prison.
  23. I hope his career isn’t ruined he’s walked away with no stain on his character. If I was Spacey I would write a book about what he has gone through, it should earn him some money.
