  1. started to watch this show for the first time when it was in the castle in Wales where Ant and Dec sometimes said let’s go live and see what the celebrities are doing. I haven’t heard them say it in the spin off African version. Mr Risen is right it is probably pre-recorded. Also I read that the African version is a reserve plan in case Covid restrictions came round again and they wouldn’t be aloud to film it in Australia. It’s much better being filmed in a warm sunny place than a damp dark castle in Wales.
  2. I’m not sure if this information is any use to you. You might already have it. There is loads of information about Lt. George Sainton Kaye Butterworth who was born at Paddington, London on 12/07/1885. He was with the 13th Battalion DLI. He was killed in action at 4.45am on 05/08/1916 (aged 31 years) during a fierce encounter with German troops who were attempting to recapture Munster Alley. Unfortunately he was shot through the head by a sniper. His body was hastily buried by his men but was eventually lost during further bombardments in the area. He is listed on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing.
  3. I didn’t see that coming. Sad news. RIP Len
  4. John Bercow’s pension plan went a bit pear-shaped. He didn’t get a peerage. However if Starmer is the next PM he might give Bercow a ticket to sit in the House of Lords. Its time they reduced the number it has far to many members.
  5. Yes I agree about the series. I was slightly disappointed with the film but still enjoyed it.
  6. It’s Hillsborough, Sheffield North, where I tend to stay when I’m in Sheffield.
  7. Thank you Meltman. Before they opened the link road from the M1 to the A1 I have been known to use the M18. I might try it again.
  8. I don’t like driving on the smart motorway when I drive from Newcastle to Sheffield. I should be used to it by now but I’m not. When I leave the A1 and drive on the link road that takes me on the M1 south of Leeds I don’t feel very confident as I approach the smart motorway. If your car breaks down on that stretch of motorway you can’t even stand behind the barriers because there is a great big drop, it dangerous.
  9. Good question. If Bernard had no ticket he should be put on the dangerous dog register.
  10. They have been testing robot doggies up here where I live. Robot dog Bernard leaves commuters stunned while travelling from Sunderland to Newcastle on the Metro The robot, which was made in the USA, has been at the University in Sunderland since 2021 Kristy Dawson
  11. Seven Kings Must Die The film is a sequel to the series The Last Kingdom. A medieval film about Aethelstan the first King to unite England. The main actor who played Uhtred the rightful King of Northumbria in the series and film is brilliant. I loved the soundtrack to the series and film, I thought there was something spiritual about the music. 10/10
  12. You are right it didn’t work. It probably helped to put Hitler in power.
  13. I’m out of my depth when it comes to NATO. But I can remember when Trump threatened to pull the US out unless other countries, not the UK, pay more towards it. Germany and France didn’t pay their fair share or anywhere near it. Don’t know if that has all changed now.
  14. I would prefer to see a younger man win the next US election, as already said I prefer Trump to Biden if that’s the only choice. Can you blame Trump for threatening to pull out of NATO when some countries aren’t paying their fair share towards it. Germany being one of the worst.
  15. I could be wrong but there was something on TV saying Biden has confirmed he is standing for re-election. I hope he doesn’t win if it’s true.
  16. I wonder if North Korea would still be testing these missiles if Trump was still President of America?
  17. Gateshead and Newcastle saw a large influx of Irish from round about mid 19th century. Some came over because of the potato famine in Ireland. Others were brought over by industrialists to work in terrible conditions in chemical factories, Glass factories, shipyards, mining and building bridges across the River Tyne. The majority lived in awful conditions in the Pipwellgate area of Gateshead, now demolished, where sanitation was none existent. They were used as cheap labour and paid less than someone who was born and bread in Gateshead and Newcastle. There is a lot of Irish cultural societies in the North East also Catholic Churches. Like the Americans a lot of them up here are proud of their Irish ancestors.
  18. Sensible post, I agree with you on this one.
  19. A lady told me a few years ago after Saddam Hussein was defeated she and her family had to flee from Iraq leaving their home and cars behind. They were all Christian’s and Saddam Hussein allowed them to practice their religion. The interim government who took over from Saddam did not like Christian’s and they were being persecuted because of their religion. The lady said she detested George Bush.
  20. Hopefully they have already done this and China is aware of it.
  21. Nothing surprises me anymore. We have to just get on with living and hope for the best.
  22. I hope that is all it is. I just feel that if China invades Taiwan then there will be W111.
  23. China has been simulating hitting key targets on Taiwan. All these military drills are very worrying. That’s all we need, China invading Taiwan. At times you have to think the worlds gone mad.
