  1. THE VANISHING OF SUZY LAMPLUGH It’s a documentary about Suzy the estate agent who vanished in 1986 after meeting a client at a property he wanted to view. Although she has now been declared dead her body has never been found. However John Cannon who is currently in prison is the main suspect of her murder but there isn’t enough evidence to charge him, he is due for parole in a few years time. I watched a similar documentary about Claudia Lawrence and it makes you wonder how the families deal with their loved ones disappearance. When the police have declared them dead but their bodies have never been found, and no one officially has been charged with their deaths. I suspect it’s because they want answers, and to see justice, but I’m sure a small part of them believes that one day they will walk through the door again, until a body has been found.
  2. If you mean how is Boris Johnson's Brexit deal different from Theresa May's? Then I’m going to say not really, but I’m more than happy if you want to explain the difference.
  3. I’m also happy with the outcome. At first I wanted WTO, but if I’m honest I didn’t understand it. As Farage says this deal is much better than Mrs Mays deal.
  4. The Tesco Chairman say changes to food prices under the Brexit deal are likely to be very modest, it would hardly be felt in terms of the prices that consumers are paying. Can’t speak for all supermarkets but Morrison’s had already started to buy products outside of the EU in case there wasn’t a deal with the EU. The fisherman might not have got everything they wanted but are they going to be worse off had we remained in the EU?
  5. There are still lorry drivers waiting to cross the channel trying to get home. it makes you realise how much trade we do with the EU when you see all those lorries still stuck in Kent and what a good customer we are to the EU. If we had left the EU with a no deal it would leave the EU in almost as much pain as Britain.
  6. It probably was the early release schemes. I agree with you about doing nothing because of the cost.
  7. I could be wrong, but I thought when Boris was first elected as PM he said it was something he was looking at, longer sentences for murder, or it could have been the Home Secretary. I was going to say in my post that some prisoners should remain in prison unless they need 24 hours care. As you say it would have to involve the parole board and medics to decide what’s to be done with them should they reach that stage.
  8. If MP’s had to vote to bring back the death penalty I suspect they would be given a free vote and not put under pressure by their leaders on how to vote, it would be a vote of conscience. I can’t see many of them voting to reinstate hanging. The only trouble is not many murderers are given whole life sentences, at some stage they will be eligible for parole. It’s the family’s of the victims who were murdered who serve the life sentence. I think Government needs to look at that now we have got Brexit nearly sorted.
  9. We now have satellite photos of the Earth showing it is round. We have come along way since the days of Christopher Columbus when people believed the earth was flat until he told them otherwise. Well I think he did.
  10. Farage has been on TV and said the deal is a big improvement on Mays deal. He says its not perfect but time to move on now and put Brexit behind us.
  11. I’ve just been shopping at the Asda Metro Centre Gateshead and they only thing they didn’t have was bananas, but it’s early days let’s see what happens if France continues its ban.
  12. His Dark Materials, season 2. Enjoyed watching this.
  13. I’m sure he is the oldest person to win the competition. I think he is 56 years old. He wasn’t my favourite to win but for his age he was certainly light in his feet.
  14. For his age he was good and I also thought his Argentine Tango was good.
  15. You were a bit slow there Nikki, you should have taken a photo an put it on The Best of Sheffield cheerful photos section. I agree though, it was a lovely uplifting thing to do.
  16. I loved Maisie’s show dance, hope she wins.
  17. This scam had been on the news. Fraudsters have been posing as well known delivery companies, sending emails saying they have not been able to deliver goods and then asking for a fee to rearrange the delivery. They then ask for your bank detail which they use to extract money.
  18. ET, a science fiction film. The ending was sad when the children had to say good bye to their alien friend. Starman, Jeff Bridges was in this film, another romantic science fiction film, which I’ve recently watched.
  19. Maisie and HRVY in my opinion are the best dancers and I hope one of them wins, but after Joe Swash won Dancing On Ice earlier this year, it wouldn’t surprise me if Bill Bailey or Jamie Laing won the competition.
  20. Maisie’s a nice dancer. I think she could win strictly.
  21. I’m pleased he didn’t get a refund. That will teach him a lesson.
  22. I remember my friend’s mother making this ginger biscuit log cake in the 1980s at Christmas time. It was lovely and moist and I couldn’t believe it was made with ginger biscuits. Think I’m going to have ago at making one. Ingredients 1 packet ginger biscuits 250ml (10 fl oz) double cream Sherry or sweet wine or orange juice (about 150 ml/5 fl oz) Method 1. Whip the cream until thick and spreadable 2. Pour some wine or whatever dunking liquid you choose to use into a saucer 3. Dip biscuit into the liquid 4. Spread biscuit with cream 5. Sandwich with another biscuit which has been dipped in the liquid of your choice and then build up a roll of liquid/biscuit/cream. You might have to hold the first few biscuits together until it gets longer. 6. Remaining cream should then be spread over the roll. Use a fork to make lines. When finished put the biscuit log in the fridge for about 5 hours. It should be moist and spongy when cut. Back then my friends mum used Sherry to dunk the biscuits in but I’m going to use Baileys Cream, then squash a chocolate flake bar and sprinkle it on the log.
  23. I agree, It is selfish to hoard. Have we not learnt anything when we had all the panic buying at the beginning of the year because of the Covid Virus.
  24. I was in the Metro shopping centre Gateshead on Saturday. Most of the cafes were open for takeaway food and drink only, in line with government covid rules. All seats had been removed in the centre to prevent people from sitting down, the only alternative was for people to sit on the floor to eat and drink their food. I’ve never seen as many people sitting on the floor at this shopping centre before, there was some social distancing but not in all parts of the centre. The police and security staff didn’t do anything there was to many peole sat on the floor eating and drinking . You could see inside all of these cafes that were open to serve takeaway food only how they had made their premises covid secure after the first lockdown ended, and they were not allowed to let people sit in them. I’m sure It would have been more safer to sit in a cafe than sat on the floor.
