Guest busdriver1
They bought one that was not fit for purpose do not know if it was price or incompetence or both but what really was hard to take was that they seemed not to care that it showed wrong information A cynic might think that they selected that one because the supplier gave good christmas presents - allegedly ---------- Post added 30-10-2018 at 17:27 ---------- They probably got a cheap system, it is a false economy. see above reply
GleadlessLad
Supertram's announcement on Twitter this evening (cut & paste hence not my spelling!) "Appologies but due to the Tram Train from Parkgate held for a late running train the 19:00 departure from Cathedral to Parkgate will now commence at Woodbourne Road" I wondered how long it would take before there were disruptions (for whatever reason) to the new service! Discounting the awful event on Launch Day of course.
Annie Bynnol
Supertram's announcement on Twitter this evening (cut & paste hence not my spelling!) Discounting the awful event on Launch Day of course. There is/was significant disruption on the local rail network since 16:30 with delays and cancelations because of a road vehicle colliding with a bridge at Swinton. This will effect the Tram Train as the Railway signallers control all movements between Swinton, Parkgate and Tinsley. A quick look indicates small delays and running short, a good result for TT as a crisis was managed. What is more important perhaps is how were passengers informed of the cancellation between the Cathedral and Nunnery Square and could they be told to catch a Supertram to Woodburn Road to meet up with the TT. The information screens (not working) and announcements at Parkgate and Rotherham Central are Network Rail operated- did they inform passengers. jaffa1
Does it not go through Rotherham CENTRAL? That's what most of us would like to know but no one seems to be giving us the answer.
Resident
That's what most of us would like to know but no one seems to be giving us the answer. It does, I was just being pedantic towards those moaning it being called Rotherham Parkgate Link below shows a linear map of all routes https://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/TramTrainTimetable2018.pdf
GleadlessLad
Now on Supertram's Twitter feed this morning:- "The tram train services departing : Cathedral at 39 minutes past the hour Parkgate at 09 minutes past the hour will not be running due to no tram available till further notice 6:39 am · 31 Oct 2018" Seems to be a bit of a farce all round - the promised 3 trams per hour reduced to 2 trams per hour for an indefinite period, less than a week after this "flagship" service commenced! Its only an experiment. Very expensive and seeing the sticky lying incentive of politicians behind it I am prepared for the biggest farce possible here. There is a train that connects rotherham every 30 minutes to sheffield. The morning evening rush on its own will not be enough to carry a tramtrain project on its own. I don’t think anybody at Supertram could have anticipated their spare tram being taken out of action on the first day of service. One of the unfortunate side effects of that is that if another tram needs maintenance etc then there isn’t a tram available to replace it.

They bought seven and need 4 to operate the Rotherham service and have the trams that used to run the Purple service to Meadowhall ---------- Post added 31-10-2018 at 10:33 ---------- The information screens (not working) and announcements at Parkgate and Rotherham Central are Network Rail operated- did they inform passengers. It is always passing the buck more than an hour after the crash last week the dot matrix at Middlewood were still pretending there was a normal service

The trams which ran to Meadowhall on purple only did so on a Sunday - today is Wednesday (is it not?).
