mahonia Posted May 28, 2010 Share Posted May 28, 2010 Gary Coleman, the child star of the smash 1970s TV sitcom Diff'rent Strokes whose later career was marred by medical and legal problems, died today at the age of 42 after suffering a brain haemorrhage. I was really hoping the reports would be part of the usual round of Urban Myths "so-and-so's" dead.. he's dead, she's dead. there was a programme on cable only a couple of weeks ago about the other two "kids" in the show, (with a fair bit about Gary in it) and their problems, Dana Plato dying through drugs at the age of 34, in 1999, and Todd Bridges' problems. I know GC had massive difficulties with kidney failure, etc, as a kid, and was on dialysis for years after a failed kidney transplant. sad. The show was pretty dire really and certainly wouldn't work nowadays but a small piece of childhood and early youth has been taken away. RIP Gary - and thanks.
