A very drawn out FOI request has finally confirmed that Thatcher knew about Cyril Smith's activities, but nevertheless authorised his knighthood;

This does add credence to the theory that, at the very least, there was a blind eye turned.

As were Algernon Sydney (politician) and James Scott (1st Duke of Monmouth.)

 

To be fair some of that list were executed purely to get them out of the way regardless of whether or not they were guilty of anything.

They were all of the 'ruling elite' though so good riddance to em.

So, after the news has broke, accusing Cameron and Clegg of also colluding in the big Westminster paedophile cover-up, where are they? Why are we not seeing them on our screens today, defending their position of withholding information for 11 months, until they were threatened with the Hight Court?

Do they not think the public deserve answers? Even if it is in to their own conduct?

How can we have such people in government? What credibility do they have in investigating Rotherham, Oxford, and other CSE cases?

Will Thatcher now be stripped of her title?

That's a very good point. Cameron was on telly a few days ago demanding that workers on the front line who cover up abuse should be prosecuted. What did he know & why didn't he go to the police?

This is turning into a perfect exanple of why politicians and the government are losing all credibility in the eyes of the public it supposedly serves.

They just don't seem to think that the law should apply to them, and are prepared to use every device in the secret service's armoury to cover up their wrongdoing.

Should this law apply to the secret service also?

Cameron can step up and stand up for Clarkson on the news today, but remains silent on the revelations in the press this weekend that he and Clegg have needed the threat with high court before they would comply with a freedom of information request on child abuse!
