jauntyone
Does anyone remember butlers cafe in sheffield, I beleive it was near the Jessops Hospital. People say it was a real greasy spoon type cafe but they did very good bacon sandwiches. Just where was it???????????

Lucozade
IIRC it was where Butlers Balti House is now. I can only barely remember the place. Top of Broad Lane, 194 Brook Hill to be precise Look Here

defstef
We should lament the loss of our proper cafes. Anyone remember Smiley's down near Castle Market? Their large breakfast was so huge not even I could finish it. Prime spot for yet another Subway perhaps?
Ousetunes
I clearly remember it; must have closed about what? ten, eleven years since. Where breakfast stood for breakfast.
sparky2
I went in there as often as I could when I went into Sheffield which was about once a fortnight and I would work it so that I was there at dinner time to have some of their meat and potato pie with loads of Henderson's relish on. Steve Butler would be downstairs most of the time but would keep poping up now and again to keep an eye on things and his mother would be there taking the money, she wore a green eye shade (the half round one with the elastic round her head) to keep the sun out of her eyes because it shines all day in the window. Great memories.

Great memories. I used to go to 'Ma Butlers' for the meat and potato pie when I was in the TA at Somme Barracks in the mid -late 60s. It must have been good as I can still remember it. I passed the cafe 'that was' on saturday night and was telling my mate how good the pie was back in the good old days.
