InigoMontoya
Dave. Today. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/britain-is-too-tolerant-and-should-interfere-more-in-peoples-lives-says-david-cameron-10246517.html “For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone',” he said. How long before we get an "un-British activities committee" and camps for people who don't conform to a prescribed set of opinions & values? They're called prisons For the rest of it, 50% rethoric (so be all the duck you can be, and let water slide off your back ), 50% on-the-nose and overdue (there should be narrower limits on the tolerance of violent proselytes, which is what this is all about - rethorical aspects notwithstanding). Then change the law. How can you start threatening people who abide by the law? If there is something people are doing that the government and electorate think should be stopped then pass a law to do so. This is just a way to get around due process for populism. The bill will include new immigration rules, powers to close down premises used by extremists and "extremism disruption orders". This is just a way to get around due process for populism. If the Gvt starts snooping and extremists-/proselytes-bashing without such new laws, you would have a point. AFAIK, so far they haven't: they've announced a bill they're going to put together, which will have to go through Parliament as usual. Therefore, so far, you don't.
