alemap
does anyone know if refuge collectors are on strike this Wednesday 05/10 2016.it should be our black bin day ,if so do we get them emptied the following day or wait another fortnight for collection. Could it be a trial run for monthly collections?
iansheff
I heard the other day on the radio there was a strike on Wednesday, whether it will go ahead will probably not find out till nearer the day. I just searched on Veolia and the council website but couldn't find anything. Edited October 2, 2016 by iansheff

kidneystone
On Wednesday 5th October GMB Union members from Veolia Sheffield are planning to strike for one day which will impact bin collections for Sheffield residents with bin collections on this day. Veolia are working hard to minimise any disruption in the City and would like to ask residents to present their bins as normal. Debbie Doohan (General Manager, Veolia Sheffield) said: “We have worked hard to try and resolve this dispute having had numerous meetings with the GMB and have involved ACAS. We apologise for any inconvenience this strike may cause to residents and will do our best to get the services back to normal as soon as possible.” "We are disappointed that this action is to take place, as we believe our offer of 3% over a two year period is fair, especially in the current economic climate with low inflation." "We have given significant pay increases in recent years, when inflation was higher, and were looking to offer some security of pay levels by offering a two-year deal.” On Wednesday Veolia will be working with a reduced number of collection crews and may take more time than usual to collect resident’s waste. Additional crews will be working throughout the weekend, so we ask residents whose bins have not been emptied to leave them out for collection. Collections from Thursday 6th October onwards will be unaffected by this industrial action. All Household Waste Recycling Centres will be unaffected by the industrial action and will remain open as normal. From Saturday 1st October winter opening times begin, with our HWRCs opening from 10am to 4pm. We will provide service updates on our website at http://www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield and via Twitter @Recycle4Shef. The Veolia Call Centre is open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday on 0114 273 4567. ---------- Post added 03-10-2016 at 00:22 ---------- http://www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield/disruptions-waste-and-recycling-collections
Penistone999
Typical Unions trying to hold business to ransom. The sooner Unions are outlawed in this country , the better.

So if my bin isn't lucky enough to get emptied by the agency squad on Wednesday, it has to sit at the end of my drive until the weekend. It'll already be rammed full on Wednesday, so they can expect at least one extra black bag sat next to it come the weekend.
