Overview

The Sheffield Forum Writing Group has two parts to it.

1. The General Section Which is open to all and operates just like the rest of Sheffield Forum. On this section everyone is cordially invited to share their reading preferences, favourite authors or poets, which books you would recommend others to read and so on.

2. The Writing Archive. Can only be accessed by a password. Use of this password will grant access to the stories on the Writers' server. The organisers reserve the right to withdraw this password at any time.

By using this password you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.

1. Access to the Writers' Server allows you to view the stories; you are permitted to quote parts of the story as part of a critique on The Sheffield Forum Writers' Group.

2. Copying or downloading of works to your computer, and its reproduction in whole or in part of a contributors material by anyone other than those with the specific permission of the contributor is STRICTLY ILLEGAL AND IS FORBIDDEN AT ALL TIMES.

Uploading a story.

Sheffield Forum users may upload stories to the writers' server as long as they meet the following conditions.

1. Anyone uploading work on to the site must own the copyright of the work, or have the permission of the copyright holder to do so. By uploading the work they are stating that they have the permission of the copyright holder to do so.

2. All work uploaded remains the property of the author, who also retains his or her copyright. Uploading of work to the group is not the same as publication, and so, as far as we can ascertain, your First Publication Rights are unaffected.

3. The organisers of the group have the right to remove any work that they regard as libellous, obscene, that infringes copyright or is likely to incite hatred.

4. Please note: Whilst Sheffield Forum, its Owner(s)/Administrators/Co-Administrators/Moderators and Group Leader(s) make every effort to protect written articles from being copied/altered/plagiarised in any way/quoted elsewhere by any manner of transmission to others, all work uploaded to the Server by "Writing" Members is entirely at the Originating "Writing" Member's own risk.

5. In addition to the above, the normal Terms and conditions of Sheffield Forum apply, and by using this facility you are agreeing to them.

Requesting a critique

You will have the option to request a critique of your work from fellow Sheffield Forum Members. If you opt for having critiques of your work, comments and critiques will be posted in the General ("open to all") Section of the Writing Group.

It is up to you to request the level of critique which can range from none (if you just want to share the story) to a full blown critique. (Detailed analysis of plot, characterisation etc.)
