tatty dumps
I have not been a forum user for very long but during the short time, I have spoken to many friends old and new. The one that stands out most is Albert T Smith. Sadly I have just received news that he passed away January 24th. He will be badly missed - he had a wit and charm that appealed to most poeple. He was the one to start new threads and keep folks interested. Cheers Albert and condolences to your family and friends. Tatty Dumps:sad:
Guest
I'm so sorry to hear that. I was actually only thinking yesterday that I hadn't seen any of his posts for a while (he used to be active in the Walking Group too, both posting nuggets of background information about various walks and locations, and going on the walks). RIP Albert.
CHAIRBOY
Sorry to hear that. I think Albert was involved with the Hallam Muscular Dystrophy group as I recall his asking me the whereabouts of a former Wednesday player who became their vice president? Albert was very gracious of this player's efforts and obviously we are sorry to hear of Albert T Smith's passing. He made a welcome contribution to this SF site. taxman
I'm very sad to hear this. Albert was a regular with the walking group up until a few months ago and will be sadly missed. He could be an argumentative bugger at times but he was a wonderful character and his knowledge of the area was immense. There were some wonderful stories he used to tell us about his Socialist past and some of the people he'd met. Farewell Albert x
hillsbro
Very, very sad - Albert was a fine forummer. I remember in particular his "circular bus" thread last September: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=389679 He was intending to retrace the route of the bus - now he'll be doing it in the Great Beyond. R.I.P. Albert.
Godzilla
My forays with the walking group are few and far between, but I did meet Albert on a couple of them. He was a rare character. RIP Albert.
Nooka
Thats very sad news to hear. I met Albert as a member of the walking group a couple of years ago now. Albert was a friendly cheerful chap who had many interesting stories to tell. I will never forget his generosity (he offered to buy me some proper walking boots when he saw me wearing some old trainers!). I would like to send my best wishes to his family and especially to his wife who i also met and found to be lovely and friendly. Does anyone know what the funeral arrangements are? As i would like to attend and pay my respects if i am not too late.
taxman
I wonder if he or anyone else finally got around to developing his movies of the walks we went on, it would be a nice way to remember him and the times we had.
geocol
One of Albert's ambitions was to take the trans Siberian railway to Vladivostok (He started a thread on here, detailing such). Sadly, he never made it in this life. Maybe he will in the next. RIP. Dasdevanya. Deepest sympathy to his family.
PopT
Well Albert we planned several meets and we never managed to break bread together due to my travelling and your hectic diary, but never mind I know we will get together in another place. Rest in Peace Albert you were a one off and a good un at that. You certainly left your mark on this forum. PopT
