Is this another SCAM ?

My mother in law is in her 70s and has only recently decided to start using the Internet, Her broadband provider is Talk Talk , The other day she got a phone call telling her , that her PC has a virus and they told her to turn her PC on and they would advise her over the phone how to get rid of it , which luckily enough she didn't do it. She told them she didn't know what they were on about and put the phone Is this another SCAM ????

in my opnion yes deffo scam

I've never heard of a broadband provider phoning a customer and saying they have a virus. This wouldn't be common knowledge and would only be known to the user of the PC.

I'd say it's a scam.

100% scam at least she wasnt gullible enough to do it

Yes it is they called me a couple of months ago apparently is has been going a while. They phoned me several times there is a post on computer and tech about it.

It's a scam.

Eventually they'd remote access her pc to try and steal her bank details etc.

Yes its a scam, this happened to one of my friends, luckily they didn't do it either.

this happened to my neighbour the other day she is 71, she came round to ask me what to do, I told her to completly ignore it, it sounded like a scam to me too,
