You may be able to trace when they were built because the street was named after a horse that won one of the classic races,the Derby i think. Runningman Posted January 30, 2012 Share Posted January 30, 2012 Good reply Kidorry ! Just thought to look in that excellent publication by Peter Harvey ' Street Names of Sheffield ' Page 131. Seabreeze Terrace. The legend is that the man who built it had a good win on a horse called Sea Breeze. The horse, referred to in record books as Seabreeze, all one word, won The Oaks and The St Ledger in 1888 but it is unlikely that anybody won a large amount of money on it in either of these races. It started at 7-4 in The Oaks and 5-2 in the Leger. Can we assume then the location was built sometime after 1888 ? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I assumed it was something to do with the high ozone levels on the hills of this area combined with westerly winds. Sally Clark's was also another nearby place where you could "smell the sea air".
