TheWatcher
I saw the article in the Star yesterday regarding the return of the Limit club to the Sheffield nightscene. It closed two years before I moved to Sheffield, so I never went, but does anyone remember it and if so, what do you think of the resurrection of the this legendary Sheffield club 15 years after it closed. It's going to be at the former Club Uropa (which can only be good thing to see both Uropa and Berlins gone for good) between .Zero and Fuel. Looking at the article, it would seem it's going to be for the more mature person and former clientelle. Thoughts?

nick2
You can't re-create The Limit, it just won't be the same. For a start The Limit was underground, and Uropa is in the first floor.
Tony
Yup, you just can't recreate a club. The thing about venues is that they all have their day. If they didn't they would go on forever, and clubs just don't do that do they? Giving it the name of a great old club won't mean a damn thing, even if the original operator is involved. The Corporation does what the Limit used to do, and it probably does it better frankly. This now plan just seem like a cynical attempt to get something off the ground without having an original idea. Who now only go out a couple of times a month when they can get a babysitter. I have a feeling that it's doomed I'm afraid.

Bilge
Is this the way forward for Sheffield? Naming new or refurbished buildings after other buildings that people liked but were demolished...Museum pub, Limit Club etc. What next? It's only a matter of time before a placque saying Coles Corner appears on the Midland, sorry HSBC, Bank. Castle Sq to become Hole in the Road Sq. I see that pub on West St has had another coat of paint, maybe it could be renamed 'the Mailcoach'. Nostalgia's not what it was though, as they say. cellarhigh
come on sheffield!! regeneration is slowly getting there! round that area then your going to have gatecrasher one (republic), fuel (the old purple bar/berlins), the plug (club zero turned into a three room venue) - its going to start being a decent quarter and about time sheffield started developing these as they're great! The only one we've really got is devonshire, encompassing west one and west st into that so I'm all for this!

There's been a "coles corner" placque on that bank for years.
