sweetdexter
My wife likes to serve raw vegetables i.e. Cauliflower ,broccoli, This evening as I took a bite of the Cauliflower it instantly sent me back to the days in the late 40s early 50s when we used to raid gardens and steal cabbages ,which we ate before going home. Having one foot in the grave and being an avid gardener I now realise what a pain we must have been to these guys who were trying to augment the necessities of life. If we went out in the autumn evenings with our bellies full maybe we would have found other pastimes. Perhaps because it is the same time of the year, but it was instant nostalgia for me
Allen
My sister does that..............I stopped going, lol. Veggie has to be boiled till soft...then the water used for the gravy. This post reminded me of my "scromping" days on Wadsley Common in the sixties.. There was the most beautiful cooking apple tree in a private garden adjacent. Best apples I've ever eaten.
