only_me
Can anyone remember Myers Bakery? I seem to think it was in Burngreave but my memory is playing tricks these days! Many thanks. The bakery is still there its now called Ellesmere bakery i think. In the 1970s Myers bakers was on Staveley road highfields, and they had a shop across from the royal hotel junction Abbeydale/London road. The lady in the shop there (who i later seen in the ellesmere shop) would sell us big bags of yesterdays buns for about 6 pence. I always presumed that nice lady was Mrs Myers but i have not seen her around for years now.
shelby46
I remember it now. My mum used to buy the biggest vanilla slices and eccles cakes from there. They don't make them that size any more - probably better, healthwise
