And why is Tony's so good?

One reason above all others for me...

HE COOKS IN BEEF DRIPPING NOT OIL

how many other chippies still use the tradtional method of frying in beef dripping? If you know any, please list them here.

And I'll bet they are also amongst the city's best chip shops as well.

I think Mill Road Chippy in Ecclesfield do DerbyTup, certainly tasted that way, was really nice.

Ok, hot debate time, what and where is the best chippy in Sheffield, chips have to be cooked in dripping or lard and they have to sell big white bread cakes covered in flour.

I think the best is Johns in Stocksbridge.

I think you have answered your own question, there are none where the chips are cooked in dripping or lard.

I just love great fish and chips - but 90% of chip shops don't impress me.

New chip shop I just tried - but they only open lunchtime (till 2pm)

Tony's Fish Bar on Attercliffe Road.

the chips were TASTY - yummy.

they cook in beef dripping. The fish was one of the best i've had.

and all it cost me was £2.60 for fish and chips (and this was a regular fish! - not mini)

They had queues out the door when I went - and I can see why.

a pity they are lunchtime only.

Tony's fish bar is number 594 -just by the staniforth road junction.

They also do the real fish cakes - two slices of potato with fish in between.

If you do try them - I would like to know your comments - so post them on here

always been a great chippy!
