alex3659
The ' PLAICE ' isn't open yet !! No doubt there is mixed reaction to this business. Welcomed by some, seen by others as introducing the potential for noise and litter and possible Anti Social Behaviour. As a local resident, could I ask that if you visit the shop in your car, you park with consideration. There are line restrictions in force adjacent to the shop which most folks seem to ignore. Please don't drop your litter and consider the few residences round there by keeping noise to a minimum. I will occasionally be using the shop and will be interested when it has been open a while to see if the business is doing OK and that those folks using it are being considerate citizens. Sorry to be a pessimist, but no doubt folks will park wherever, throw their meal wrappings away without thought and generally make too much noise. Rant over, back into my cave ! It's open tonight and it's not very good....

And I bet you would be one of the first ranting if half or Greenhills' businesses were shut down creating anti-social behavior? Give the place a chance, Big Bens manages.... maryjane
It is open! It opened yesterday, they were queueing round the block all evening!!! we waited 30 mins, it was worth it, tonight drove past about 5.30 and were huge queues again, the staff were rushed off their feet last night, dont think they were expecting that on their first night
ChrisT70
Another Whitby's here, fresh and crispy and cooked in dripping, just a shame there's too much with chips so will stick to fish & mushy peas next time. Also worth mentioning that they do gluten free batter for fish or you can have it poached and the chips are done in a separate frier too. in the interests of research (!) and being a greedy chuff i managed another portion of fish n chips tonight for tea from Whitbys spot on quality, red hot, fresh out, and now feeling very full. Akposodje
Just wanted to put a post on bigging up the Chip Shop in the centre of Stocksbridge. Historically it has not been too good but the new owner has really improved it. All food is cooked fresh to order so you may have to wait 5 mins but it is worth it. Beautiful cod and home made fish cakes are to die for. Give it a go - I am not on commision although a free fish supper on a Friday tea will be greatfully received !!
