sarah_be
It's got to be Marishells at Ecclesfield, near to the church. Whenever I go there is always a queue, pity they don't open that often though
Longcol
Got to revive this thread to give 5 stars to Wendy's at Netherthorpe (used to be the Netherthorpe Plaice). The fish and chips are worth £3 of anybody's money. I you miss the old Battered Sea Cods home in Walkley I can say this is definitely worth a five minute car drive for some quality grub
sugarcube
theres a chinese chippy up derbyshire lane which despite the odd opening hours and facard, does amazing chips, they use fresh oil, leaving them crispy on the edges soft and fluffy in the middle, their fish is also very good. mmmmmmmmm. mushy peas are a bit odd tho
merlin_7799
Broomhill Friary - every time!!
FunkyHouse
Broomhill Friery, all the way, mmmm mmmmmm! KookyKoo has said it all, Broomhill Friery wins hands down. The chippies in Crookes (IME) are abit greasy, the Friery does a mini-fish chips and peas for 1.50 cannot grumble with that...;-)

Yog Sothoth
Fishcakes ain't like our Fishcakes anywhere else, anyone know otherwise ? ! Leeds - all chippies in Pudsey (where I'm from) Leeds and Bradford and indeed most of West Yorkshire, do what you call "Sheffield fishcakes". I guess it's a West Riding thing - Leeds and Sheffield were all in the West Riding (and still are, imho).
