deecee
Thanks harmston. I'm going to google the area. Apparently my grandad and his brothers worked at a steel works which is now buried under Meadowhall shopping mall. They used to go to the slippers baths once a week. That would have been Hadfields most likely then donnygirl. Meadowhell covers most of the area which was the steel firm . hope this helps deecee

michael rowan
Hi Sarah, I realise it is a long time since this topic was started. My grandparents lived in Cleveland Square Darnell. Their names were Joseph Henry Grice and Theresa Brookfield. They were witnesses at the wedding of Charles Oxley and Alice Ailmore. John and Theresa married on 2nd Oct 1920 and Theresa died in 1938. I would be interested if you have any info on the Grice or Brookfield famiies that lived in the Darnall area. Mick
