Leipzig
Can anyone inform me about these stamps (they are all on a hip flask)? A escutcheon with the letters I&BW G A circle with what looks like a winged tadpole A triangle inscribed in a circle with the letters B PC Arne Stockholm, Sweden Hi altitune This was one of the marks used by the company I. Gibson & Son Ltd, which was based in Sheffield, but ceased trading in 2002. The letter "I" refered to the forname of one of the owners, and like-wise the "BW" to forenames of the other owner. The circle "with what looks like a winged tadpole" is a quality touchmark issued by The Association of British Pewter Craftsman and is in fact a seahorse. The other mark - the circle with the ABPC logo, denotes that the manufacturer was a member of the Association of British Pewter Craftsmen. The link below shows a picture of the front of the company's catalogue. http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x118/LeipzigLeipzig/GibsonCatFP.gif Here is a link to a current manufacturer with info and products. http://www.edwinblyde.co.uk/
