Rocklegend
Not sure how true it is but supposedly the Tramway and Barlows-next door are to be knocked into one Wetherspoons pub.

muddycoffee
Not sure how true it is but supposedly the Tramway and Barlows-next door are to be knocked into one Wetherspoons pub. Basically any wetherspoons rumour like this should be taken as over optomistic disinformation. Because almost every significant district has a bar or empty pub which someone has announced as a future wetherspoons, but it is not true. If half of them were true we wold have at least 10 wetherspoons in sheffield by now, but we don't, so they aren't
Carborundum
Ah I have fond memories of sing songs in the back bar of the Tramway ..... used to get an afro-caribean and irish element in .. very exotic
morrisminor
Does anyone have any idea who owns the building or is landlord?
Stan Tamudo
It looks in a sorry state these days, used to be one of many good pubs on London Road. Edited March 16, 2011 by Stan Tamudo
Jug Ears
Apparently it is going to be demolished brick by brick, rebuilt in Gleadless and turned into a curry house
morrisminor
turns out the wetherspoons idea was not too far off. the current planning permission for the site sees the tramway pub demolished and turned into grass. the rest of the barlows building becomes bars and what not. morrisminor
btw mods, isnt this better off in general discussions? it is a general discussion of the building/pub rather than talking about places you can go out to now
