RootsBooster
What doy ou say? Im a Fish and Chips gal but others in the office say Chips and Fish which sounds plain wrong to me! Ane id say Egg and Chips but they say Chips and Egg! Am I in the minority here??? Not related really but in Bolton they have 'Pea wet'! Just the pea juice on their chips!! I didnt realise quite how different regions do chips It's "Fish and chips" followed by "Do you do proper Yorkshire fishcakes or those awful, tiny rissoles?" fatrajah
I think "chips & fish" sound wrong because the explosive "p" near the middle of the phrase disrupts its flow. Edited February 1, 2016 by fatrajah
spilldig
If it says, fish and chips, it inevitably means it's not cod, which we like, so we don't buy it unless it says cod and chips.

cgksheff
Trading Standards have been working their way round most of the chippies, telling them that menus/price lists must identify the fish being sold. Too much pangasius and other stuff being sold under false colours.
nomoney
its not really cod its that cheap fish cant remember the name, but they charge cod prices, and call it cod,all ways say fish and chips,or fishcake and chips if you are in sheffield out side they call them fishcakes but they are not, just mashed potato with fish and some herb in.
