jy001
Im quite new to sheffield & was wondering if anyone can sugguest some pubs/bars with an alternative edge By alternative something that attracts a similar clientelle to The Vine for example (or for clubs, club shush..planet zogg at plug etc) but obviously something a bit more chilled out! Just somewhere can have a beer & listen to anything from reggae to rock to techno...if that makes sense? (And for the love of god dosent play INDIE and where skinny jeans are banned) Ahem..does anywhere like this exist in sheffield?
slimsid2000
The Crown & Glove at Stannington might be a good bet for you. It is a bit out of the way but well worth the visit.
Merry_Legs
Now The Lescar is temporarily closed, I tend to go to The Vine, Broadfield, Dulos, White Lion.

Merry_Legs
The Green Room (think it's called that) opposite Devonshire Green used to do live acoustic music - was about a year when I last went though, and I don't think it's open in the daytime anymore. Merry_Legs
Just down the road at the end of London Rd, behind Waitrose.
jake
The Washington is a great pub (bottom of dev green) with mixed (and slightly older) alt crowd- but be warned you may hear some indie (amongst many other things) in there...
goldenfleece
The DOVE is most certainly an 'alternative' venue, no mainstream rubbish here, just all genres of rock (plus a smattering of heavier indie on Tuesdays)....they do not come much more different to the norm than us
NEKRO138
For folky kind of stuff, there's an Americana night on under the Boardwalk once a month. It' free, and they put superb acts on. I went a couple of weeks back and it was fantastic.
