The elephants of Langsett Road

A friend of ours owns a building on Bedford Road, the spur off Langsett Road opposite Tesco. Nowadays the adjoining site is being turned into flats, but it used to house a big steelworks. The story goes that our mate's place used to house elephants which worked in the steel works, before a funeral parlour was sited there. Does anyone know any more about the elephants of Langsett Road?

Ah, maybe that's it. Of course, there's also the legend of the Woodseats rampaging elephant isn't there? This was the reason why the Big Tree's tree isn't so big after all, if I recall what I once read. Just imagine, this pounding industrial metrololis with pachyderms roaming its sooty streets. Marvellous.
