nuttygirl
I've been living away from shef for 6 months now, and am popping back to visit some friends. What should I do in just one day for nostalgia's sake? Peace gardens, Leadmill? Ideas?
Tyranna
There's a great German Christmas Market in Barkers Pool at present, especially nice if you want to visit the Peace Gardens and City hall, etc. which are all nearby!
jomarch
If you're coming on the train then you won't miss the new landscaping outside, and the station frontage itself is very different. If you are not coming by train then go and look anyway- you'll be amazed! The, stroll up Howard Street, and cross over to the new millenium gallery, look at the winter gardens, and then move onto the peace gardens (maybe have a coffee!). I would then have a nostalgic stroll down the moor which hasn't changed that much, and back up the Cole brothers and barkers Pool, back down Fargate and Chapel walk, and then back to the station down Flat street- which also hasn't changed that much. Of course, there are other things you might like to see, but that's the route I would take a friend if she hadn't seen Sheffield for a while- and I might hop on a tram up West street as well!! Enjoy your day- the place may have changed, but the people are just the same!!
