I walker past last Tuesday, and it was definintely up for auction this week. I have just googled Mark Jenkinson, and it is for auction tomorrow, the 4th. Andy C
Slightly concerned about the accuracy of the original report now...
Andy C
I've now heard that the opening do has now been put back to Saturday 15th December.
feargal
Well, according to the Mark Jenkinson website, it was withdrawn prior to yesterday's auction, so you might be right AndyC. There could be another one on Meaks' festive jaunt down the ale trail!
Meaks
If it was only being auctioned off yesterday, surely they'd have had no chance of being open by tomorrow? Similalry, as it hasn't even been sold yet, how can there be a date set for the new opening?
feargal
Nah Meaks, it was withdrawn prior to the auction. They could have been beavering away on it for a few weeks, and just have forgotten to change the sign.
Meaks
So, any further news? Has the dive reopened or did Andy C wake up and realise it was all a dream?
Andy C
I haven't been down that way this weekend, anyone got any news?
Carborundum
So will they have Carling on? I might go down then ,,,
Halibut
I saw a flier for the George IV on the floor yesterday, which said it was a 'Proper pie and peas' pub, and that they were offering real ales from 99 pence (!) and lagers from £1.70. Scary!
