xenia
Hello, this is my first post, I have been living in the states for many years and only found this site today. I worked for a whilr for a guy called Mick Lee who ran the Mulberry tavern on Arundel Gate, he opened it new on November 6th 1976, the guest at the opening was Marti Caine. Mick was a relly nice but no nonsense guy who never really liked the pub business i suspect. He was well known to a number of people in show business and once got a visit at the pub from Eric Clapton and the Mcguiness Flint band. Anyone know what happened to him? Hi I'm Roiger Nowill that used to be at "The Frog" My wife, Joan, and I recently returned to Sheffield, because of Joan's faltering health. Wow Sheffield has changed so much. By the way when I was at The Frog, I had commemorative Pots made for each of the special brews I made. I have no use for them now so if the are of any use as decoration for anyone, just email me and you are welcome to them. We now live in Aston amnd don't get into City centre very often, but the pubs are now mostly "faceless" Licensees used to be characters but now most are just shopkeepers. Should anyone fancy a pint just email me and we can meet up Cheers
pressy
Use to have a pint of reckless (or two) when in town . Totally agree about the "faceless" pubs .... all seem to have lost their character.

sirglyn
My parents Charles and Nellie Senior ran the Beehive on Langsett rd. and later the Owl on Penistone rd. in the 50s.It was a lousy time to be a pub manager.Dad was paid 4 pounds ten a week and mum only a quid. They worked seven days a week and John Smiths didn't provide any relief staff if they wanted to go on holiday.
