tonio
A pic from the past taken with my new camera,21st birthday present, in 1962. The Sportsman, where many happy hours were spent playing 3 card brag and darts. A tanner blind could lead to a large pot in those days. Anyone remember? sycamore66j
A pic from the past taken with my new camera,21st birthday present, in 1962. The Sportsman, where many happy hours were spent playing 3 card brag and darts. A tanner blind could lead to a large pot in those days. Anyone remember? nice photo tonio.i always wondered exactly where the sportsman was. i started school at rawsons in september 1962,but we still lived over on tunwell at that time.so i suppose i must have walked past the sportsman with my mum on the way to school and back.i wonder what year it was demolished,we moved onto sycamore in 1966 but i cant remember the pub. tonio
Sportsman closed in 1961/2 and license used for exchange for Fighting **** on Monteney Crec.Used to play darts and cards with Jack and Edgar Senior who were Sycamore Rd lads whom your parents will know.I think they may well be related to MH 0 6. By the way I also played in Ecclesfield SPB in the 50's as did a few more of off Sycamore.
