sezemeseeds
Went out on 21 dec for girls afternoon/night out. was so very busy in town. anyway. having great time and then about 7.15 we went to the Reflex bar. They were charging £3.00 to get in. we were outraged, specially since 2 of our friends went in 10 minutes before and didn't have to pay. we told them to stick it. since when does a pub charge at that time to get it. went to pub next door and they were charging a pound to get in. asked if they were charging the week before and the bouncer said no just tonight. we told them to stick it too. cheeky little ***** charging to get in. plenty pubs in town not charging. how unfair of them to charge and to get away with it. sezemeseeds
fair enough at the end of the night but not as early as they did. half ten - eleven you can understand. can not believe they allowed to get away with it.
goldenfleece
I think pubs charging on the door is a joke......we make more than enough money as it is, most are just greedy......Dove and Rainbow not charging New Years Eve, unlike most City centre venues...... muddycoffee
I think that pubs charging on the door or tickets should be outlawed. They do it at my local and all it means is that most of the locals do not get a chance, and the landlord's mates all get in. It leaves a nasty taste in the mouth and was never neccesary in the past. How can a pub be classed as a PUBLIC house if the public is barred from entering without a prearranged ticket or fee on the door ?
nick2
And what do you get extra on New Years Eve for the money ? Usually nothing.
Salster!
And what do you get extra on New Years Eve for the money ? Usually nothing. Yor forgot - You get crammed in like sardines in order to maximise the tight landlords pocket door money.
BasilRathbon
And what do you get extra on New Years Eve for the money ? Usually nothing. If it's really packed, at least you get to grope young ladies without them knowing who's doing it. That's got to be worth a fiver of anyone's money. muddycoffee
And what do you get extra on New Years Eve for the money ? Usually nothing. It is just a con to make people stay in the venue for the whole night, rather than moving on to another one when they get bored.
Grandad.Malky
Didn’t it all start with the millennium celebrations, I think that was the first time pubs charged and they have been doing it every year since.
