taxman
The Good Angel of Death by Andrey Kurkov and very good it is too, full of dark Russian humour and bleak satire!

Phanerothyme
Anathem - Neal Stephenson. Just when you though that the Baroque Cycle was the pinnacle of 21st century scifi, he pens 900 pages of a completely different flavour of genius. Gripping, funny, captivating, learned, splendid - I'd say more, but then I'd be wasting valuable reading time.
Phanerothyme
… though provoking, touching, riveting, extremely bendy at one point and delicately and beautifully concluded. For once I agree with the blurb, quoting one of my favourite authors, Christopher Brookmyre The only catch to reading a novel as imposingly magnificent as this is that for the next few months, everything else seems small and obvious by comparison Part of me wants to whip right back to page one and devour the whole thing again, but I'll let it sink in for a while instead.
