mikeG
Finished: The Consolations of Philosophy - Alain de Botton. Started: D-Day: The Battle for Normandy - by Antony Beevor and Animal Farm - George Orwell Had to read Animal Farm for my 'O' Level back in 1958. Passing English Lit was a doddle that year as the book is short and uncomplicated. The previous year students had 'Riddle of the Sands' which was nearly 400 pages I think. Harleyman
Executive Orders by Tom Clancy. The ultimate disaster scenario. Passenger plane flown by suicide bomber wipes out US government including president. Vice president takes charge and a lot of other very nasty things start to happen including a bilogical warfare attack against the country and invasion of Saudi Arabia by the newly constituted United Islamic Republic consisting of Iraq and Iran led by a mad ayatollah who makes Hitler look like a boy scout leader. The biologica warfare attack and how it is planned and carried out seems so workable that it's as scary as hell.
