Watson Walk any clues where?

I've come across a Watson Walk in Sheffield during my family history research.

Can anyone tell me where it is or was, and where did the name originate?

I would appreciate any help on this as I cannot get to the library, archives etc.

Happy Days!

Pop - if you remember Cockaynes at the top of Angel street, - Watson's Walk was the passage through to Heartshead and Campo lane. I can put you a piece of the 1905 OS map up on Photobucket if that would help.

Algy...where is that info from ? Leader in his Sheffield in the Eighteenth Century has something different.

In 1720, William Watson the first, was at "The Sign of the Bush." In 1739 he bought property extending " from the Market Place to another place or street called ye top of ye Hartshead." It was here (whence the name, Watson's Walk) that he carried on his business, and here was his inn, the "George."
