sawa
The new East One restaurant at West One does Japanese food, but mostly noodle-based. It also does Chinese and Thai food. I haven't been yet but I've heard it's pretty good.

silent__snow
Yakitori!? really??? wow- please do it. If you also sold ramen and kare raisu I'd come for lunch everyday. I really missing those foods. Personally I feel these sort of cheap popular japanese foods are much more suited to the british sense of taste than sushi. about skinny sumo.... it's changed- not sure what it is now- it's kept the same name- but I think now it's teppanyaki rather than sushi. Nottingham still has 'Higoi' a small restaurant on lenton blvd- which is what? 1 1/2 hours drive away... not too far away.

marcw
There's a fantastic Japanese restaurant in Nottingham on Mansfield Road called Ginza as well. It's a Teppanyaki and Sushi place - excellent food... I agree it's something that we in Sheffield are lacking. Still, we're catching up. We even have a Subway now!!!
