Hunter's Bar was the last Toll Bar to close in Sheffield, When it closed at mdnight on 31 October 1884 the crowd that had gathered to celebrate took the gate off and threw it into a field !! Can anybody shed any light on this? When I was a lad the stoops were used to support the entrance gate into Endcliffe park.
