I went to Nonna's on Eccy Rd on Fri night. Had only been once before, several years ago, and wasn't very impressed then due to small menu and small portions for the price! but things have clearly changed in the intervening time, the menu was much more extensive than I remembered, portions generous and the bill for 3 starters, 3 mains, a shared dessert and a bottle of wine came to £35 a head - excellent.

We're really into Italian food (my boyfriend's family are Italian and they're all great cooks, so we're used to good stuff!), our favourite restaurants in Sheffield are Piccolos at the top of West Street and La Scala on Abbeydale Road in Millhouses. They're both small and cosy with great service and the food is fabulous. We've been to both tons of times (we're actually just deciding which one to go to tonight!) and have never been anything less than fantastically happy with the whole meal!

If you go to Piccolos, make sure you leave enough room for dessert cos their tiramisu and their lemon sorbet are gorgeous!
