Sheffield myths

Recommended Posts

Has anyone one else heard of the mass rat migration in early fifties? My dads mate was on his way to Victoria Station, Sunday morning fishing to catch the milk train to Washingbourgh, when milloins or rats, headed by a huge king rat, ran through the old Victoria arches, and ran up Petre St. Made him miss his train, there were so many. Had to stand on basket for 20 minutes. Balfour Darwins were being closed down, I think. Myth or not?

No, South Yorkshire Fire Service has one vehicle with an extend-able ladder of over 147mts. This is kept underground at a secret location directly below The Red Lion at Gleadless Town End.

why the hell would the fire brigade keep a fire engine in a secret location just in case of emergency. lol

Because the Fire Brigade ALWAYS keep their engines in a location just in case of an emergency, just because they keep said location secret is up to them! :D
