anniec
Hi everyone, i'm throwing a suprise 18th party for my best friend in febuary next year and I was wanting something locally either Handsworth or near Handsworth or something in the centre of town at a reasonable price. Mainly because its easier and we have more chance of people showing up if its easier to get to! Obviously because its an 18th we would want a bar if music is available that would be great at a reasonable price or i'm sure i could sort out our own DJ and food would be needed as well but again as long as its reasonable however this could also be provided. If anyone has any offers or knows anywhere which is good from experience could you please let me know? I've never organised something like this before! Regards Charlotte xxxx Couldn't you use Handsworth Working Mens club? They have a function room upstairs and can provide a DJ who is very good and gorgeous! (wel he's my husband I should say that) Other than that I don't have any suggestions but good luck finding somewhere.

hennypenny
Sorry I can't recommend Hillsborough Arena for an 18th birthday party, we had my son's there and found them very unhelpful and petty. My cousin's son had his at Hillsborough Working Mens club on Bradfield Rd and they were fantastic.
Arena
Sorry I can't recommend Hillsborough Arena for an 18th birthday party, we had my son's there and found them very unhelpful and petty. My cousin's son had his at Hillsborough Working Mens club on Bradfield Rd and they were fantastic. I’m sorry you had a bad experience at the Arena and hopefully any complaints you had were dealt with appropriately at the time. Obviously I don’t know what you’re problems were but as we operate a very strict ‘Challenge 21’ policy 18th Birthday Parties can sometimes bring conflict when young people turn up without ID-we would also challenge adults thought to be buying alcohol for under 18s which again can lead to problems. DevonWench
Help!! We had the George IV booked for hubbys 40th do & found out last night it's closing. Any suggestions for a venue on 21st March needs to hold 100 + people & be able to accommodate 4/5 bands through the evening! Also would like to organise our own catering & have real ales available! Fairly central would be an advantage as friends from around the country are coming ad already have hotels booked! I know we don't ask for much!!! Cheers Chele Ask at Hillsborough Hotel they maybe able to accommodate and the beer is very good. I know it is a pub and not a function room but they may allow you to have a party with music if you don't mind the regulars being there.
DevonWench
Thanks for the suggestions guys but I don't think either of those venues are suitable. We've been round making some enqiries today and have a couple of possibilities in mind. Hopefully all is not lost.
