What did your school report say about you ?

Recommended Posts

Although it was a long time ago since I went to school, I have actually saved my last school report. It says :

Patricia is excellent at English Language and English Literature, and is our star pupil in both these subjects. However,she distracts the whole class by chattering to her friends during lessons.She also acts the clown on numerous occasions. I can see no future for her if she does not calm down.

Funnily enough I am exactly the same now as I was then.:hihi::hihi:

Brilliant, genius, amazing, excellent ... and various synonyms thereof.

They were so blinded by my academic abilities, they never noticed how many other problems I was having. Came as quite a surprise to them all when I walked out six months into my A-level courses.

I've still got all of my school reports- my mum saved them for me and gave them to me when I was about 25.

My school reports say words to the effects of:

Great results but would be good if she were less bored and disaffected with school.

Our grades were all a letter for results and a number for effort put in. My very diligent and conscientious sister used to get A1s for her whole report card, but I specialised in getting A5 for most topics- got the results but couldn't give a flying fig about paying attention in class or being a good student.

Oh my goodness I just dug one out to have a look at. I was such a goody two shoes:hihi:

"Catherine is a determined student who works well at all times. She has an alert mind and a positive attitude. I am confident she will achieve very pleasing results at GCSE"

"Catherine has made good progress this year, and I am very pleased with her...Cat deserves to do well in all she does-well done Cat!"

:gag::gag::gag::hihi:

I can't really remember exactly what mine said but it's probably not repeatable on a family forum.

Suffice to say the teachers all told me I'd never amount to anything! OK I failed most of my GCSEs, the best result I got was an E for typing, but to be told I'll never amount to anything is quite frankly insulting! I just wish I could go up to one of them nowadays, show them my CV, and offer a swift 2 fingered gesture and an "up yours" to them.
